FAQ

Is my office chair in stock?

Any chairs that are out of stock will display a “due in” badge and you will be unable to order these items from our website. If you do not see this badge and you can add your chair to your basket, then your item is in stock and ready for dispatch. You can also set up a restocking reminder so you are notified when your desired chair is back in stock

What are the best office chairs with back support?

If you need a back supporting office chair, these are some of the key features to look for:

Lumbar Support: Look for an office chair with lumbar support that allows you to customise the level of support to fit your lower back curve. This helps maintain the natural alignment of your spine.

High Backrest: Choosing a high back office chair provides support for your entire back, including the upper and mid-back regions. It should be tall enough to support your shoulders and head comfortably.

Head rest: With the average head weighing 11 pounds, choosing a chair with a headrest will allow some of your weight to be carried by the chair instead of your lower back and shoulders which alleviates stress and tension throughout the day

Adjustable Recline: A reclining office chair allows you to lean back and change your posture throughout the day which is ideal for releasing tension and preventing back pain.

What are the features of a good ergonomic office chair?

A well equipped ergonomic chair should correct your posture whilst promoting healthy digestion and circulation. Office chairs vary greatly in the adjustable features they offer but a well-equipped chair can include some or all of the following adjustments:

• Adjustable seat height

• Adjustable seat depth

• Height adjustable and rotatable arms

• Reclining back with weight tension control

• Independently adjustable back height

• Horizontal tilt function to prevent over reaching

• Lower back support with height and depth adjustment

• Height adjustable and rotatable head rest

Which type of armrest is the best?

Generally speaking a height adjustable armrest is best for correct posture. Ideally the armrest should support the weight of your arm and be height adjusted so your shoulders are at rest and not hunched. If you’re short on space, flip up arms may be a better option for you as the arms can be folded up at the end of the day allowing the chair to be neatly tucked under your desk freeing up available floor space.

More detailed information can be found on our blog 2d, 3d and 4d height adjustable armrests explained.

How can I tell if an office chair will fit me correctly?

As a rule of thumb, if you are 6 feet 1 inches or taller we recommend looking for a chair with an adjustable back height to ensure the ergonomic chair back is correctly aligning with your spine. The seat width and depth can also be found in the “essential product information” section for any chair so make sure this offers adequate space. In general the more parts of a chair you can adjust (seat, arms, back and headrest) – the closer you can get to your ideal seating position.

Which chairs for the office do you recommend?

There are several types of chairs for the office to choose from, which is best for you depends on your personal needs and preferences. Here are some commonly used types of office chairs:

1. Task Chairs: Task chairs are versatile and typically feature basic ergonomic adjustments such as seat height and knee tilt. They are suitable for general office tasks and provide adequate support for short to medium durations of sitting. Check the maximum user weights and warranty length to ensure durability.

2. Executive Chairs: Executive office chairs are often larger and more luxurious, designed for high-level executives or individuals who spend long hours in the office. They offer enhanced features such as higher backrests, additional padding and in some cases adjustable lower back support.

3. Ergonomic Chairs: Ergonomic chairs are specifically designed to provide optimal support and comfort for prolonged sitting. They usually have adjustable features such as lumbar support, seat depth, armrests, and reclining backrest . These chairs are ideal for individuals who require enhanced ergonomic support due to back issues or long hours at the desk.

4. Mesh Office Chairs: Mesh chairs have a backrest made of breathable mesh fabric, promoting airflow and preventing heat build-up. They are known for their durability, flexibility, and ability to conform to the user's body shape. Mesh chairs are ideal for busy professionals who spend a lot of time at their desk.

Are home office chairs suitable for professional use?

Yes, chairs for home offices will perform equally well in a professional environment. Fenstone chairs are designed to keep you comfortable for extended periods of time, offer long warranties and are built to British Standard to ensure industry recognised levels of safety and durability for office equipment. Professional buyers are advised to check the weight limits of the chair to ensure it caters for a wide range of body types (115KG or 150KG are typical). Call centres or hospital reception desks may also need a certified 24 hour office chair which is suitable for continuous use.

I'm a business buyer can you supply me with a VAT invoice?

The Fenstone website displays all prices inclusive of VAT. We are happy to provide VAT invoicing to business customers on request.

Do your desk chairs come with a warranty?

Yes. Every Fenstone chair includes a manufacturer’s warranty which ranges from 1 to 5 years depending on the model you choose. More details can be found on our returns and refund policy.
